THE MEDIUM IS THE MESSAGE

Bookguns by Robert The

“Obsession with the semiotic erosion of meaning and reality led me to create objects that evangelize their own relevance by a direct fusion of word and form. Books (many culled from dumpsters and thrift store bins) are lovingly vandalized back to life so they can assert themselves against the culture which turned them into debris.” – Robert The 1995

INK AND BACON

Wim Delvoye has been tattooing pigs since the 1990s. In the early 21st century a tattooed pigs project was set up in the Art Farm in China, where there are fewer restrictions regarding animal welfare than in most parts of the Western world. Delvoye described the process of tattooing a live pig,”we sedate it, shave it and apply Vaseline to its skin.” Somehow his art seems to celebrate double moral standards, since he owns a pig farm but is in fact a devout vegetarian!
