FABULOUS STUDIOS AND FUNKY HOMES

Here’s a bit of confetti from “The Selby – is in your place”. Get a sneak peak into the homes and studios of creatives, bohemians, gypsies, and other quirky characters.

THE POWERS OF TEN

I had a great binary birthday, although, nothing miraculous happened. Here’s ‘The Powers of Ten’, a short film by Charles and Ray Eames.

BULLETIN BOARD

Thought I would share with you a few pics from the corridor bulletin board in my home. It’s mostly my own doodles and cut-outs from doodles – basicly one big doodle collage.

THE AIR IS ON FIRE

The Air is On Fire…. or at least it will be the 26th of September when the exhibition of retrospective art work by David Lynch opens at Gl. Strand, Copenhagen. The pics are from when the exhibition was hosted by Fondation Cartier in Paris. According to Gl. Strand David Lynch has been very involved in the reworking and adaptation of the set-up, getting it to match the Gl. Strand setting.

I’m certainly looking forward to dive into his nightmarish landscapes, twilight zones and his exceptional feel for the absurd. Ever get that feeling that David Lynch is just around the corner giggling, and he’s handpicked all the folks in your café?

ROLLER COASTER PUBLIC TRANSPORT

I’ve just spend the whole night on public transport – took the train and then the bus – Århus-Copenhagen-Nørrebronx. It’s just takes too much time, it’s too boring, not to mention, waaaaay too expensivo. So I just love this ambitious but completely serious design for a roller coaster public transport system for Rio de Janeiro. I want that. In Copenhagen. NOW! (through Favela Painting)

STRETCHY

I love the work of Ernesto Neto. This fluffy soft and pink installation must be like being inside a giant candy floss.

His signature work is fine membranes fixed to the ceiling by long threads. With stretchy materials he creates organic shapes and peculiar soft sculptures which the visitor is allowed to feel through small openings in the surface. He also creates spatial labyrinths which the visitor can enter and interact with.

EDIBLE ART

Designhelikopter is inviting you on a bite of this edible art installation called ‘The Chaos’ (I think). I don’t actually know if it’s a poem, a manifest or what? But it probably tasted good either way. I do think it’s a bit of a shame that the words are printed on the wall behind the cookies. I think it would be way cooler if the art work was altered as people ate bits and pieces of it – and eventually  entirely consumed it. (via Cakehead Loves Evil, the creator the cookie-art concept)
